On this day, the 200-days-left mark, we're going to take a look at an absolutely amazing wedding! I was looking for some inspiration for today's post, and I got onto Stylemepretty.com today and smack! There it was.
The last time I did a case study (see here), I listed the things I liked and didn't like. Unfortunately (or fortunately, I guess), with today's wedding, I liked it all. So I'll be doing things I liked and things I loved!
What I liked:
1. The bride's fresh face: she looked so model-y, yet so natural.
2. The first picture of the post: I love the brightness of it, and the random pops of red and blue. The dress, the suit...ahhh. Perfect.
3. The simplicity of the table settings. Nothing extravagant, no big flower arrangements, very plain, but still gorgeous!
What I loved:
1. Um HELLO all white flowers! (See my post on all white flowers here) I loved all the flowers from this wedding, especially the bride's bouquet AND the hanging pomanders.
2. The sunset pictures at the end: absolutely breathtaking! The colors are perfect and who doesn't love a kissing picture? I sure as heck do!
3. The obvious: WAKEBOARDING! Who wakeboards in their wedding gown? That takes serious guts, my friends. If I could wakeboard...heck, if I could SWIM, I don't think I could do it in my wedding gown!! Props to them!
And here's their trailer, done by Epic Motion:

What parts of this wedding do you like? Would you (or would you have) wakeboarded in your wedding gown?

#50: Mish mosh
I really wanted my 50th post to be something absolutely amazing and awe-inspiring. Unfortunately, I've had a migraine since 6am and also have some serious knots in my shoulders and neck. Therefore, I am stealing some style wisdom from Lucky Magazine. I just got my first issue of it in the mail today (thank you to my knee-high boot purchase from October...I got a free year subscription with my purchase!) and I just skimmed through it quickly. 2010 is the 10th anniversary of the first issue of Lucky Mag and a lot of this issue's articles had things in groups of ten. The best article was "After a Decade at Lucky, these are the 100 edicts that we, the editors, live by." Here are some of my favorites:
1. Don't shop for clothes when you're thin, tan or in the Bahamas because everything looks good when you're thin, tan and in the Bahamas.
2. Looking for a dress when you actually need one will rarely lead to success. (So true!)
3. Most useless advice from a salesperson: "You can wear it with jeans."
4. If something is expensive, leave it behind for 24 hours. If you're still obsessed with it the next day, buy it. (I usually wait a week if it's really expensive. And if it's no longer there, then I wasn't mean to have it!)
5. Black will always be the new black. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something. (Amen)
6. Never get on an airplane without a cashmere blanket or huge scarf. (I'm always freezing on plane and in airports. You know I'll be following this flying to my honeymoon!)
7. Your waist isn't where you think it is. It's about three inches higher. Put another way: the most flattering spot for a waisted dress to hit is just under the rib cage. (Yes Mom, you were right.)
8. If you invest in a Chanel (I'm changing this to Louis Vuitton) bag, you will carry it for the rest of your life.
9. By age 30, every woman should own three pairs of comfortable flats, three pairs of walkable heels, and two pairs of total sexpot stilettos. (That's just the minimum, J. It went on to say that if you're going to have more, you should own them in multiples of five. Ok, it didn't really...but I love shoes.)
10. The best and most comfortable flats are usually the cheapest. (Again, so true.)
11. A long-sleeved gown can be completely sexy. The same is not true of a long skirt and long-sleeved top, which can look completely polygamist. (hahaha)
12. Pairing a boyish piece with a girly one will make you look like you know how to dress. (Flowy dress and tuxedo jacket? Yes, please!)
Which ones do you agree with? Disagree with? Which ones would you modify to fit your life (see #8 and #9)?
PS: Today's post marks the fifth-of-the-way mark! Only 200 posts to go :)

#49: YouTube
Tonight, we take a field trip to YouTube.
I came across this engagement video today, and ohmygoodness it is so cute! It's the story of one youth group leader proposing to another youth group leader...with the help of the whole group of kids! It's a little long, but the watch is worthwhile and will definitely bring a smile to your face :)
If the embedding doesn't work, click on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acf3cO60d9s&feature=related
PS: I personally love the guys with the light sabers at the end. It adds that special touch :)

#48: Cinderella
Sometimes I feel like Cinderella. No, no not the princess with the gorgeous dress/perfectly coiffed hair/horse and carriage part. The on-her-hands-and-knees-cleaning part. I feel like I'm always cleaning something. Bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, something.
Here's the kicker: I love cleaning. Give me loads of laundry to do and I'm a happy girl. Before I became an old lady with my back problems, I used to love vacuuming. I leave that to my dad now. I love seeing the before and afters; being able to see the progress I've made. Weird, I know. And no, I'm not for hire and I would NOT like to come clean your house.
I love being able to help my parents out around the house. It's sort of like earning my keep, but that's not really how I see it. I see it as a thank you to my parents for the free roof over my head and the food in my stomach. It's a thank you for all the things they've done for me, even though some cleaning doesn't even come close to the sacrifices they've made for me over the past 23+ years.
In six months and three weeks, I will have my own house to clean. I think the dynamic of cleaning is going to drastically change for me. I think it's going to turn into a pride thing. I want to be proud of my home, and I intend on keeping it in tip-top condition and clean. There might be some dust here and there (which should be easily cleanable since we're not knick-knack people), but I'm not the kind of person who lets dishes pile up in the sink or laundry pile up in the hamper. The second I see something needs to be done, I do it. I'm not a "oh, I'll do it later" girl. I'm a "do it now or it will never get done" girl. That's probably why I'm always moving, always doing something. I feel so strange sitting down and doing nothing.
What's your cleaning dynamic? Do you like to clean? Was it different when you moved into your own place?
Sorry if my thoughts are jumbled...I've been cleaning all day!

#47: It Ain't All It's Cracked Up To Be
I love my iPhone. I really do. But sometimes I think it hates me. Like when I type "mornin" and it auto corrects to "Mormon." As in when I text J and tell him to have a good morning, but it tells him to have a a good Mormon. Not cool.
I've also called numerous people on accident. I've dialed people while ON a call with someone else. I've hung up on J so many times I've lost count. And I've had my phone for a whopping three months.
Don't get me wrong. I can't live without it now. I feel naked without it. It's the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning, and the last thing I see before I close my eyes (sad, I know).
I saw one of my friends on facebook post this site today. And boy does it make me laugh. Warning: some of the texts are crude. Read at your own risk.
I wish I could continue this post, but my deadline is fast approaching. And I'm sticking to this one post per day thing I've got going.

#46: It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
I heart Christmas. It is, hands down, my most absolute favorite holly-day. I love the tree decorating, the shopping, the hustle and bustle, and of course, the mistletoe. I love the apple cider, the pumpkin pie, the Christmas Eve tradition of opening pjs, the Christmas morning tradition of opening one present at a time and having our only-served-once-a-year torte breakfast in the middle of the morning (even though it takes so much longer with nine of us than us original five, I still love it!.
As I've gotten older (as well as my parents, siblings and friends), I've found it harder and harder to buy presents for everyone. I'm at the age where, especially since I'm moving out next spring, that I don't want crap. Therefore, I know my friends/family don't want crap either. I don't need knick-knacks (or patty wacks for that matter, whatever those may be) or dust collectors. I need the dough. The moolah. The dinero. The cash monies. Am I clear?
So here's my thinking: If I want that, then everybody else probably does too. I was watching the Ellen Show today (don't judge me, I have NEVER watched it before, Taylor Swift was performing, I wanted to see if Ellen's holiday giveaway was as good as Oprah's (so far, so good) AND there is literally nothing on at 3pm when you're trying to get a ridiculously tired 2 year old down for a nap), and in a preview for tomorrow's show, Ellen told her band leader, "You don't have to buy me anything" and then followed it with "Cash is just fine." Love it.
My mom has always said, literally as long as I can remember, that gift cards are impersonal and she never gives them for Christmas. Birthdays, yes, but not Christmas. I adopted this mentality for the past however many years I've been buying presents. This year, though, everything's about to change. Not only am I giving gift cards, but I'm also having meals with friends instead of exchanging gifts. Let's be honest here, my two "A" bridesmaids (their names start with "A," ALL my bridesmaids are awesome!) and I always give each other things that we would buy for ourselves. So why not just buy it for ourselves and use our money to enjoy a nice dinner out? It's a win-win situation. And I'd rather have memories anyways (unless it's diamonds...just kidding?)
Is finding gifts for certain people on your list hard for you this year? Do you give gift cards? Do you watch Ellen? I gotta say, I was laughing pretty hard during certain parts today, not gonna lie here.

#45: It's the End of the Road...
...for engagement pictures anyways :)
Today is part four of witnessing the awesome talent of Jewel Peach. I'd like to share with you a few more photos that she took of us last Sunday, and then I'm putting these bad boys on facebook. You should feel lucky you got to see them first!
